First Thanksgiving
I have been amazed how every store I walk into completely skips over Thanksgiving and moves right on to Christmas. So, I decided that this year my kids would really understand Thanksgiving and what it is all about (after I researched it myself!! Ha)
So, on a mission to halt the making of the millionth turkey today...
we decided to make the Mayflower. First we read a story about the Pilgrims and their journey. Then we constructed our Mayflower.

Finished product

After talking more and more about the story we decided to take it a step further. Of course we waited for Riley to get home from school, then we got busy!
We colored Pilgrims and Indians (Native Americans for you PC people)

We strategically placed and re-placed

And we finished with a "First Thanksgiving" display.
We had the Mayflower

And Plymouth Rock with an Indian waiting for the Pilgrims

We had the corn fields (not sure why Brooks went with the total black out on the Pilgrims)

But most importantly, we had the feast! Everyone at the table with all the yummy food.

So this turned out to be a bigger project than planned, but it was worth it when Riley looked at me and said "this is amazing, mom!"

That is amazing Hollie!!!!
Could you come teach my class next week? Bring Riley and Brooks, too! (and Cade of course) Speaking of Cade, just what was he doing? Love y'all!
So I had the screen scrolled down to the last picture of the indians eating with the pilgrims, and Clark goes, "Whose is that?" I said, "Riley and Brooks." "Oh... the Last Supper?" I guess he thought Jesus and the 12 disciples wore feathers and hats.
Looks so fun! You make it look so effortless.. please tell me it's harder than it looks in pictures.
