The Stars at Night...

Yes, I know it has been forever! Sorry! We have been busy! We had two weeks of company (loved it!) and then Justin and I went away BY OURSELVES to Cancun for the week!!! Jo Jo and Pops came and took care of the kiddos! It was WONDERFUL! I didn't take a single picture! There was not much to take pictures of....us on the beach, us by the pool, back to the beach, the pool, eating, sleeping! We are pretty boring!

Speaking of sleeping...it is no secret that Riley has a hard time sleeping! Yes, we are the parents who dose our child with Benadryl! Lately she has had a really hard time. Last night she was crying so I went to check on her. She was saying "teach me, mommy, teach me!" I asked "teach you what?" She quickly cried "How to go to sleep!" Poor thing! So, Justin came up with the idea of laying down and looking up at the stars...so off to Walmart I went to buy some classy, beautiful glow-in-the-dark stars...

She chose 3 stars to put on the ceiling, since she is 3 years old.

Hard at work.

The finished product.

Practicing "looking at the stars."

Fast asleep HA HA HA. If only it was that easy!

I think this calls for the 1st edition of the REESE Parenting Book. Great idea. This precious child has too much imagination to hold in her little head. I hope the stars work. Next time you are at Neena's we will get out the telescope. There is a sweet book that I read to Macy about a little girl and the stars called, Laura's Star. Macy loves that book. Maybe a good bedtime story for Riley. Love you guys.

Glad you got to have a fun, relaxing trip & catch up on your sleep! Riley is so precious. I love her stars & how she immediately fell asleep! ha ha! As hard as she plays, I can't believe she doesn't crash! Hey, benedryl used to keep Whit awake. Dimetapp, maybe.... Or maybe she's just a night owl. It's kinda a family curse. Good luck!

Oh my...I am laughing so hard. I'm so sorry, Hollie, but I think it really IS a family curse. I remember Justin coming to our bed late one night and asking, "Mom, how do you make yourself go to sleep?" I was too tired at that point to even articulate an answer. He was probably in the
1st grade. When she hits the teen years she will sleep all day! Isn't that comforting? hahahah...love y'all and I'm missing those precious babies (and y'all too, of course!)...JOJO

Man, we have a little squirt who has a hard time sleeping too!! I am keeping your star trick in the back of my mind for future reference... let us know if it helps her! I will need all the help I can get as we are about to try and get her in a big girl bed... Oh. My. Word. Not sure if I will sleep ever again...

Seriously, Riley is the cutest thing EVER!
