BYE BYE PACI!!!!
We told Riley that when she turns three it is time to get rid of the paci's (she only sleeps with it.)
We have been thinking of different things to do with it. Her final decision was that she was going to throw it in the water at the zoo for the baby ducks and crocodiles. That is what I did with my paci when I was little. So, thinking I had a few more months till she turned three...I hadn't thought about it too much. Of course, since we live on "Riley time" I should not have been surprised when the other night she announced that she is too old for her paci. So, the process began!
We bagged all the paci's up and put them away.

This was her idea of a good spot...in her room. Ya right, I quickly moved them to the top of the fridge.

That night I took the kids to the mall for pizza and a "No More Paci Party." She got to go to "Build a Bear." She chose to make a puppy to replace her paci.

Isn't she just adorable. Surprise...she picked a pink outfit!

And we had to bust out the Christmas PJ's so they could both sleep in them.

We had to wait until Monday to go to the zoo. So after school the entire family headed out...
She is ready to go. She really handled it well.

Let her fly!

It could not have worked out better! Just as she threw them in, a mama duck and her five ducklings came swimming over. She was so excited!!!

The baby ducks.

I do realize that plastic paci's are not very safe for these poor animals and I had every intention of getting them out before we left until....
this guy showed up...not sticking my hands anywhere near those teeth!

After the paci farewell we went to the zoo. I didn't take any pictures except of Brooks in the petting zoo. This kid loves his stinky animals. He couldn't get enough of these goats. GROSS! I wanted to bathe him in Lysol!!

So far, the no paci is working out. It takes her quite a while to settle down, but no screaming fits!!!

Riley, you are such a big girl to give up your paci. I am so proud of you!!! You are a good example for your brother too. Justin, thanks for the birthday call. 84 isn't too old if you say it real fast. Oh well----Love you guys. Nana
What great ideas. Love the build a bear puppy. Cute pink outfit! Way to go, Riley.
Isn't she amazing? I am so impressed with your mothering skills, Hollie...you handled that perfectly! I cannot believe baby Riley is going to be 3. Can't be true. I am in withdrawal from not seeing y'all...Brooks has changed so much, too, in just a few weeks. Let's meet halfway! hahaha..love you, jojo
I love the paci story!! I'm sure there's a duck swimming around with it in its mouth! And I just have to say, I LOVE the pink bow!!
Way to go Riley!!! What a big girl you are! And seriously Hollie, you should write a book because that was the perfect way to do it! Congrats all the way around!

O Hollie... what a mom! I can't wait to call you at night when I don't know how to raise my children. Jenna and I agreed that Riley is looking old.. she almost looks tall. I decided I'm going to start commenting on the family's blogs now. I'm growing up. Oh and tell Justin to stop dressing like his players...
Love you all! Jor
OH MY. I love this. What a big girl. Love you.
we are very proud of you, riley!
hollie, have you always been such a germophobe? can't wait til the kids beg you to go camping!
I love it! Jack mailed his paci's to the "Paci fairy" for all the new little babies...probably not very sanitary idea in theory either, but it worked! They are getting so big, I hope we all get to see each other soon!
